Visegrad Literary Residences – Autumn Residents.

 

At the beginning of September, four artists came to Villa Decius in Krakow, who will spend the next three months on a literary scholarship as part of the Visegrad Literary Residences, working on their projects and becoming part of Krakow’s literary life.

 

 

Here are the biographies of our guests:

 

 

 

 

Zuzana Bramborová (1988) – a graduate of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, in the studio of illustration and graphics. Author and editor of small books and zines. Some of them were awarded in the competition “The Most Beautiful Czech Book of the Year”. Member of Xao (xaoxax.cz) and the Flying Grass Institution.

 

 

Radovan Potočár (1993) published his short stories in several Czech and Slovak literary magazines. He won the main prize in the Poviedka 2015 competition. His debut book Nády (KK Bagala, 2018) is a collection of short stories. He lives in Prague and graduates this year from the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

 

 

Maciej Hen (1955) – graduate of the Łódź Film School (Cinematography Department). For years he has been trying his skills in various fields, including as a film photographer, photographer, screenwriter, documentary film director, TV lighting director, journalist, musician, English translator and sometimes even actor. He made his debut as a writer in 2004 with the novel “According to Her”. His second novel, Solfatara (2015) in 2016 received the Gombrowicz Award and the title of Book of the Year of the Warsaw Premiere of Literature. Recently, he published a novel “Deutsch for the intermediate level”.

 

 

Krisztina Rita Molnár (1967) – poet, writer, translator. She lives in Telki near Budapest. She writes and teaches poetry. She has three children. Her latest collection of short stories entitled “I hope you are satisfied” was published by Scolar in September 2019.

 

 

Visegrad Literary Residences is a series of residency stays and literary events addressed to writers, poets, essayists, critics, literary translators and journalists from the Visegrad Group countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary). The programme is based on a partnership of four Host Institutions from each V4 country: the Institutu umeni in Prague, Petőfi Irodalmi Múzeum in Budapest, the Villa Decius Association in Krakow and the Literary Information Centre in Bratislava. Each edition of the programme enables 32 Literary Residents to carry out their own literary projects at 4 Host Institutions during a selected period of time: May 1st – June 12th (Compact Spring Edition) or September 1st – November 30th (Standard Autumn Edition).

 

 

Recruitment for the Visegrad Literary Residences 2019 will start at the beginning of November this year.
