The Legacy of Chopin’s concert series there is one of the greatest pianists – Kevin Kenner. During the concert at the Villa Decius, celebrating Chopin’s Year in 2010, the artist will perform works of Frederic Chopin and Robert Schumann. Admission to the concert requires the production of free tickets available from 12 July at the Villa Decius and City Information Point ul. St. Jan 2nd.
Kevin Kenner was educated under the direction of Christopher Brzuza, and then studied with prof. Ludwik Stefanski at the Music Academy in Cracow and at the Peabody Conservatory of Music with prof. Leon Fleischer. He graduated from the Hochschule fur Musik in Hannover, prof. Karl Heinz Kämmerling. In 1980, as 17-year-old received the award for most promising talent in the International Piano Competition. Frederic Chopin. In the twelfth edition of the competition in 1990, won the second prize (first not awarded), the audience award and a prize for the best performance of a polonaise. That same year he won the bronze medal in the International Piano Competition. Peter Tchaikovsky in Moscow and a special prize for the best performance of Russian music. Other awards include International Terence Judd Award (London 1990), Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (Fort Worth, 1989) and Gina Bachauer International Competition (Salt Lake City, 1988). He has performed as soloist with world-class orchestras, including Halle Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw, the NHK Symphony of Japan, Orchestra of Radio and Television Philharmonic Brussels, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the USA. He collaborated with many renowned conductors such as Sir Charles Groves, Andrew Davis, Hans Vonk, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Jiri Belohlavek and Kazimierz Kord. He has also performed with Silesian Chamber Orchestra. Since 2000 he leads the class piano and chamber music at the Royal College of Music in London and piano master classes.
