“Popularizer of Science” competition is organized by Polish Press Agency (PAP) – Science in Poland and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education to award people and institutions, whose passion is to share knowledge and uncover the mysteries of modern science for those not associated with the academic community.
Awarded for the second time with this honorable distinction, Prof. Ryszard Tadeusiewicz, from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, primarily promotes topics related to biocybernetics, biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, automation and robotics. He publishes books (including those for children aged 7-12), writes columns on science and technology, gives lectures, creates regular broadcasts, has a fixed column in a newspaper and a very popular science blog.
The competition “Popularizer of Science” has been organised in Poland since 2005. Last year a record number of 140 candidates entered the contest the winners were selected in following categories: Scientist, Animator, Media, Team and Institution.
The awarding ceremony was held in Copernicus Science Centre on 7 January and attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin and Vice President of the Polish Press Agency Łukasz Świerżewski.
Professor Tadeusiewicz is also the President of the Board of the Villa Decius Association.
