30 November 2008, Sunday, 4pm. The Villa Decius Association and the Arkady Publishing invite you to a meeting devoted to the presentation of an album “Icons in Poland”. The album presents several hundred of icons from polish museums and private collections, as well as of the Orthodox and the Roman Catholic Churches. The author of the book, Professor Michał Janocha, art historian, reveals images that have been worshipped for ages as well as those forgotten, reprinted for the first time in the publication.
His book explains the most important iconographic themes and the theological foundation of the iconographic painting. The author describes its history, including icons form the Polish- Lithuanian Commonwealth, and Russian, Balkan and modern icons. The publication was designed by professor Maciej Boruszewicz.
