Metting of the Jury of the Polish Prize of Sérgio Vieira de Mello, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (2002–03) was held on the 17th September.
The works of the the Panel of Judges were attended by High Representatives of: the President of the Republic of Poland; UN High Commissioner for Refugees; Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Poland; Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Poland; Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Polish Commissioner for Civil Rights Protection; President of Krakow; Embassies, Consulates and Foundations supporting actions of the Villa Decius Association in matters related to human rights; the ZNAK Foundation, Founders of the Prize; Chairman and Director of the Villa Decius Association.
This year, 19 candidates were nominated for the Prize. Among the nominees there were people and organizations from all over the world, working for human rights and dialogue between religions and cultures, incl. from Poland, Belarus, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria, Afghanistan and Indonesia.
The winners will be announced on October 21 at 4.00 p.m. during the 18th Ceremony of awarding the Prize at Villa Decius in Krakow. The ceremony will be broadcast live on FB: Stowarzyszenie Willa Decjusza.
