In December, Taras Malkovych, a Ukrainian poet and translator and Vitalyi Ryzhkou from Belarus commenced a one-month literary scholarship in Villa Decius. The stay was funded by the Kraków Consular Corps. In Kraków, the young artists will implement their literary and artistic projects, participate in question and answer sessions with authors and other literary events.
Taras Malkovych (1988, Ukraine) is a poet and a translator, a graduate of Romance and Germanic philology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev in Kiev. He is an originator and editor of an anthology entitled “Snovydy” and author of a collection of poetry entitled “The One Who Likes Lengthy Words.”
Vitalyi Ryzhkou (1986, Belarus) is a poet and a translator and the laureate of the Prize of the “Diejaslou” Magazine “Zalaty Apostraf” (2008), a finalist in the competition of the Belarusian Pen Club and the “Nova Niva” magazine (2006) and Carlos Sherman Competition (2009), winner of poetry slam March Cats-4 Festival (Uzhorod, Ukraine), as well as laureate of the Debut Prize of M. Bogdanowicz for the novel “Locked Door.” He was published in such magazines as: “Maladost”, “Diejaslou”, weekly magazines “Nova Niva” and “Novy Cas.” Participant of literary festivals Order of Words (Minsk, 2006 – 2010), Kievan Laurels (Kiev, 2008) and other literary events in Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. Ryzhkou translates from English and Ukrainian.
