The Villa Decius Association with deep regret bids farewell to Wislawa Szymborska – The Great Human, an Eminent Poet, the Nobel Prize Laureate for literature. It was her jokes that have initiated the transformation and revitalisation of the damaged monument of Villa Decius and the creation of a meeting place for people of science, culture and art. We will constantly keep in mind our joint meetings at the Villa Decius, especially during the inauguration of the Association’s activities (1996) and during III Krakow Literature Days (2006), and the last one, more informal, on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition of Albrecht Dürer’s works in September last year. We owe her a lot, and in our actions, we would still be undertaking the ideas which were outlined in the first years of the Association’s activity – the ideas of multiculturalism and artistic heritage addressed to the public across Europe – as well as continue developing our great literary programme.
