Visegrad Academy of Cultural Management in Prague

The Czech session of the Visegrad Academy of Cultural Management (VACuM) takes place from March 9 to 18, 2015 in Prague. VACuM is an educational project for young cultural managers.

The aim of the two-year project is to develop the skills and qualifications in the management of cultural and art organisations, cultural policy and communication activities and to contribute to the support for cooperation among Central European and Caucasian countries.

The VACuM project continually welcomes twenty young cultural managers from ten Visegrad group countries and the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine). The Czech participants are Lucie Málková, the theatre director and the new director of the Czech Centre in Budapest, and Jan Veselý, fundraiser in the Archa Theatre and member of the CECEDu board. Lecturers are the leading European cultural management professionals (Jean Pierre Deru, Bob Palmer, Franco Bianchini and others).

The opening of the ten-day intensive seminar takes place in BackYard (V Jirchářích 8, Praha 1) on Tuesday,  March 10 at 10 a.m. The participants include Pavla Petrová, the director of the Arts and Theatre Institute, Petr Hnízdo, the director of the International Relationships Department at the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, or Tomáš Kafka, the director of the Central Europe Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The professionals and the general public will have the chance to meet the project participants on Friday, March 13, at 6 p.m. in the Alta Studio (U Výstaviště 21, Praha 7) where the presentation of several projects and the discussion will take place.
