The Visegrad Literary Residency Program, established 2012 by the International Visegrad Fund, consists of a series of residency stays and literary events addressed to writers of fiction and non-fiction, poets, essayists, critics as well as literary translators, publicists and journalists from the Visegrad Countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia).

We would like to invite you to a meeting devoted to young poetry from Belarus and Ukraine. The guests of the Chair in Ukrainian Studies of the Jagiellonian University will be Taras Malkovych and Vitalyi Rizkov – our scholarship holders during the Literary Scholarship of the Consular Corps programme. The meeting will be held on December 19 (Thursday) at 1.15 p.m. at the Chair in Ukrainian Studies of the Jagiellonian University, ul. Św. Krzyża (room No. 8).
On 16 January 2014 a meeting of the TransStar Europa network will be held in Krakow under the title: “Translating Cube – 6 Sides of European Literature and Translation”. Trans Star Europa is an EU project focusing on the promotion of translation and literature. It was launched in January 2013 by the University of Tubingen and nine other European institutions. It aims to raise the importance of less widely used European languages and less integrated cultures in the public awareness.
„After the Welfare State” the fourth issue of Visegrad Insight, discusses the question of how we will take care after each other in the future. The issue is available in electronic formats (PDF, mobi or epub) at our website www.visegradinsight.eu or in print version in selected bookstores worldwide from 25th of November.
Villa Decius Association finished this year’s edition of the Decius Ducats programme. Around 350 students and teachers from 10 primary schools in the Małopolska Region participated in the project. It was intended to disseminate knowledge of the economy, numismatics and history among primary school students. The classes focused on selected themes related to the history of money, its value and role, as well as monetary policy. Decius Ducats meetings were held in the Renaissance Vila Decius, where the students were invited to spend the night, which made the programme more attractive and effective.
In December, Taras Malkovych, a Ukrainian poet and translator and Vitalyi Ryzhkou from Belarus commenced a one-month literary scholarship in Villa Decius. The stay was funded by the Kraków Consular Corps. In Kraków, the young artists will implement their literary and artistic projects, participate in question and answer sessions with authors and other literary events.
The implementation of the Visegrad Literary Residency 2013 Programme came to its end; it is a joint initiative of the Villa Decius Association and the International Visegrad Fund. In the Laski House – a historic annex of Villa Decius, we hosted Ivan Štrpka, a Slovakian poet, András Forgách, a Hungarian playwright, Ivana Myškova, a Czech writer and Anka Herbut, a Polish playwright. They spent three months in Kraków pursuing their literary and artistic projects, participating in question and answer sessions with authors and literary events. We were very pleased to host such unique literary personalities. Thank you very much.
