Dear senior citizen, join SAGA! The applications for the fifth edition of the creative writing workshop for senior citizens at Villa Decius are now open. Anyone over the age of 55 is invited; all you need is a sense of creative potential and a wish to embark on a writing adventure or to brush up on your technique.
In 2010, at the initiative of the Polish and German ministers of culture, the Genshagen Foundation inaugurated the Polish-French-German programme of art residencies called “George Sand – Frédéric Chopin”, addressed to artists representing various fields of art. In 2015, three artists from the Weimar Triangle countries were invited for the third time to spend eight weeks at the Genshagen Palace.
The fourteenth edition of the Visegrad Summer School has attracted lots of candidates from diverse backgrounds. We have received 484 applications demonstrating a wide array of intellectual undertakings, educational qualifications and professional experiences. W dniach 13-14 kwietnia 2015 w Zespole Szkół im. Wedlów-Tuczyńskich w Tucznie w województwie zachodniopomorskim odbyły się pięciodniowe warsztaty z gimnazjalistami w ramach kolejnej edycji projektu „Hip hop! Hejterom stop!”. Celem inicjatywy jest zwalczanie dyskryminacji i mowy nienawiści za pomocą autoironii, komizmu, muzyki i filmu.
Between the 16th and the 20th of March 2015, five-day workshops with secondary school students took place at Zespół Szkół Sportowych (Sports School Complex) in Supraśl, Podlaskie Region, as part of yet another edition of the “Hip Hop, Put Hate to Stop!” project. The aim of the initiative is to combat discrimination and hate speech with the use of self-mockery, humour, music, and film. The project intends to use young people’s creative potential in order to counter discrimination and hate speech and to encourage them to take active part in public life.
On 11 May, Budapest, Bratislava, Krakow and Prague welcomed the arrival of the fellowship holders in the spring edition of the international “Visegrad Literary Residency” programme. Four writers will carry out their projects and participate in meetings and literary events in Krakow. Villa Decius will be a temporary home to Krisztina Galgoczi, a Hungarian literary critic, Marek Debnar, a Slovakian essayist and reporter, Břetislav Ditrych, a Czech essayist, poet, prose and non-fiction writer, and Joanna Szczepanik, a Polish art critic, journalist and lecturer.
The International Visegrad Fund has approved the Literary Residents for 2014. The Visegrad Literary Residency Program consists of a series of residency stays and literary events addressed to writers of fiction and non-fiction, poets, essayists, critics as well as literary translators, publicists and journalists from the Visegrad Countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia).
Between 25 and 29 March 2015 Krakow will host the third workshop for young literary translators and cultural animators in the framework of “TransStar Europa”. Villa Decius will welcome three groups: Polish-German, Ukrainian-German, and Czech-German. The workshop will be led by Olaf Kühl, Claudia Dathe, and Kristina Kallert. The Villa Decius Association is a partner in the project.
